
Three renowned doctors are new to the ENDO-Klinik Hamburg medical team
As part of the cooperation between the Helios ENDO-Klinik Hamburg and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), which was launched on April 1, 2025, the specialist clinic for joint replacement and spinal surgery was able to recruit three outstanding doctors from the UKE. The three surgeons not only bring extensive expertise and many years of experience in their specialist field, but also strengthen the area of teaching and research in particular.
Three new doctors have started work at the ENDO-Klinik Hamburg: Prof. Dr. med. Frank Timo Beil, PD Dr. med. Jan Hubert and Dr. med. Ulrich Bechler. The three doctors have now settled in very well and are delighted with the warm welcome and positive cooperation.

With Prof. Dr. Frank Timo Beil, a highly recognized expert is taking over as Chief Physician and Medical Director for Research and Teaching at the ENDO-Klinik Hamburg. At the same time, he continues to work as Director of Orthopaedics at the UKE, where he holds the Chair of Orthopaedics as a W3 Professor.
Prof. Beil also completed his specialist training as a trauma surgeon and orthopaedic surgeon at the UKE, where he also gained his doctorate and habilitation. In 2019, he was appointed to the Chair of Orthopaedics at the UKE and was also Director of the Orthopaedic Clinics and University Medicine at Klinikum Bad Bramstedt. Previously, the physician was Deputy Director of the Clinic for Trauma Surgery, Orthopaedics and Plastic Surgery and Head of the EndoProsthetics Center of Maximum Care at the University Medical Center Göttingen. He specializes in primary and revision endoprosthetics of the hip and knee as well as foot surgery and orthopaedic rheumatology. Prof. Beil was also a member of the HSV Medical Team and team doctor for the HSV professional soccer team for several years.
Privatdozent Dr. Jan Hubert has taken up his position as Senior Consultant at the ENDO Clinic. In addition to this position, he is also Deputy Director of Orthopaedics at the UKE. After studying medicine at the University of Göttingen, PD Dr. Hubert completed his specialist training as an orthopaedic and trauma surgeon at the Wedel and Bad Bramstedt clinics and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, among others.
From 2016, PD Dr. Hubert worked first as a specialist and later as a senior physician and senior main surgeon at the EndoProsthetics Center of Maximum Care at the University Medical Center Göttingen. The physician not only has expertise in primary and revision endoprosthetics of the hip and knee, but also has extensive research and teaching expertise and teaches our medical students in orthopaedics, among other things. As a research group leader, he is currently working on “Periprosthetic Infections & Fractures”, among other things.
With Dr. Ulrich Bechler, the ENDO-Klinik has gained an experienced physician and senior consultant with extensive expertise in the field of orthopaedics and trauma surgery.
He can look back on more than ten years of clinical work at various renowned institutions and brings with him in-depth surgical experience. After studying medicine in Salzburg, Dr. Bechler gained international professional experience at Weill Cornell Medical College and Presbyterian Hospital in New York - supported by scholarships from the American Austrian and Max Kade Foundations.
From 2014, Dr. Bechler completed his specialist training in orthopaedics and trauma surgery with a focus on trauma surgery at the Agatharied Clinic. This was followed by a research fellowship at the renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, where he worked in the hip and knee arthroplasty team in 2017. In 2018, he moved to the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Bad Bramstedt, where he worked as a specialist and later as a senior physician.
The trio of orthopaedic surgeons are looking forward to working together with the ENDO-Klinik Hamburg team to provide patients with the highest level of medical care and scientific work.
