Academic activities
His particular academic interest comprises the development and clinical introduction of medical devices and minimally-invasive surgical techniques to treat heart valve diseases, thoracic aortic and heart and lung failure.

- Prof. Popov has written over 200 peer-reviewed papers, reviews and editorials, in the field of Cardiothoracic Medicine, Transplantation, Basic Science, Cardiology, and Intensive Care Medicine as well as contributed to many book chapters
